CURRICULUM AREA: Year 8/9 ENGLISH 

In Semester 2 all Year 8 students will complete a core unit entitled Choices and Fractures.  This unit includes a detailed study of traditional and functional grammar, a reading program and a study of fairytales and folk stories. 

As students continue with their studies in English they will examine magazines, documentaries and computer games.  In second semester of year 9 they complete a narrative writing unit focusing on novels, poetry and short stories. 

Year 10 includes studies of popular television, a novel and social issues, the media, poetry and Shakespeare.   This sequence prepares all students for the text types and necessary skills for senior English subjects.
