The Guidance Officer assists students to develop decision-making skills to enable them to make informed decisions in the educational, vocational and personal crisis areas.
The welfare of the whole school community is of concern to the Guidance Officer, who works with parents, teachers and students in a collaborative way. Identifying and being aware of issues of concern to adolescents enables the Guidance Officer to be involved in the development and implementation of appropriate programs.
I am happy to assist students with a range of issues: personal difficulties, school/educational issures, career information. This service is strictly confidential, unless of course there exists some danger to students themselves or to others. Where students are agreeable, i often liaise with caregivers, as this is often the best way to effectively deal with issues of concern. My office is in the main administration block (Z011) and appointments can be made through the front office. Students simply get an appointment, clear this with their teachers and come to see me during the allocated time. I am also almost always available both before and after school without an appointment. In the case of an emergancy, i can generally reschedule others to make space. Contact No: (46368700) Judy King (School Guidance Officer) |
